CNCR GROUPRSE

In 2020, we launched a CSR policy that is part of our quality and continuous improvement approach.

The first result of this approach is a supplier charter aimed at bringing together our partners, suppliers and service providers.

The second result is that we have increased our Ecovadis score by more than 15 points, exceeding the average score of companies sharing our activity!

TEST WORKSHOP

The CNCR workshop uses 2 methods to test and prepare the components according to the needs of our customers.

  • He can use:Standardized test benches to test the part alone.
  • A dedicated manufacturer’s bay to test the part in its working environment.

The standardized bench:

About ten benches are installed in the workshop. They are made up of HP Workstations, external power supplies and anti-static mats. PCs are mainly used to test hard disk, drive and robotics devices, SCSI, SAS, SATA and Fiber connectors.

The components are first connected to the machine and powered on to verify proper operation. They then undergo a battery of tests by dedicated software and finally receive large amounts of data over long periods (4 hours to 24 hours depending on the model) in order to also test the product in ‘stress’ mode. We use software such as ITDT or HP LTT to improve the performance of tape drives.

In the malfunction that occurred on the memory modules, I approached Samsung’s STEP program, this software is mainly focused on commercial and pre-sales services (https://www.samsung.com/fr/business/step/).

The ‘Builder’ bay:

These ‘manufacturer’ racks allow us to put the component in a real operating situation. Once the disks have been validated by the workshop, we insert these disks into the corresponding manufacturer bays. For example, a SAS disk that has passed the workshop tests will be inserted into an EMX bay (CX, VNX, etc.) in order to be inserted into an EMC logical volume. It will be formatted again by the array and will undergo RAID setting tests with data copy. The same is true for the Netapp, IBM, HP, Dell, 3PAR, Storagetek… ranges.

Once this series of tests is finalized, the technician gives the validation of the product.

We even kept old BULL / IBM PowerPC 604 and P Series 4 servers to test refurbished components in the machine (memories, disks, tape drives, various cards)

Logistics & Stock:

Management of serial numbers

Our logistics department has been equipped with a new generation of 1D / 2D wifi handheld scanner, it allows us to read bar codes (PN & SN). It is used to record part references as well as serial numbers by optical reading. This information is collected and fed directly into our computer network, there is no manual entry, this prevents human reading or typing errors.

The reading is also displayed on the back of the scanner, the logistician can check at any time that the code read by the scanner corresponds to the one written on the component (or machine)

Failure Analysis :

During our interview, we mentioned the use of ‘Failure analysis’ in the event of RMA on sensitive files. We can set up an in-depth study to find and correct the source of the dysfunction.

Your advice had guided us to SERMA.

We got in touch with SERMA Technologies. After presentation of our needs, the SERMA company submitted an estimate for the component test and counterfeit search.

The list of tests offered by SERMA is:

  • Assessment of condition and compliance of packaging and identifications.
  • IExternal visual inspection, sampling according to standard NF ISO 2859-1, 20 pieces minimum.
If necessary marking test and / or scrape test.
  • X-ray inspection, sampling according to standard NF ISO 2859-1, 20 pieces minimum.
  • Acoustic microscopy inspection on 3 parts (top scan) for plastic housings.
  • First level electrical test on 5 rooms, at room temperature: depending on
type of component and according to available test solution, measurement of parameters
electrical main or functional test (see appendix).
If no test solution available: parametric test I (V) against Vss and Vcc of
inputs / outputs on 10 parts, 100 measurements minimum.
  • Solderability test on 1 piece on a wetting balance (without aging) according to the J-STD-002C standard.
  • Opening (or micro section) of a room + a reference room if available.
Internal inspection, chip marking and comparison of the design with the database
by SERMA. Suitability of the design with the desired function.
  • Report in English (in French on request).

These tests are carried out within their structure, the lead times are at least 3 weeks. This period cannot be reduced.
